Front crawl is the fastest and is best for sprints
Backstroke is excellent for sprints to and its a bit relaxing if not sprinting
Breaststroke is worst for sprinting but you can still go quick and its excellent for really long distances about 5km,and if swimming for fun
Butterfly is for people who want to be tired you can go quick on it but it really tires you,but it looks cool

I do front crawl and backstroke because I like sprinting.
they all have pluses and minuses

Front crawl is the fastest, but it uses up a lot of energy backstroke is the most energy efficient, breaststroke is excellent when you are swimming for fun and butterfly just plain looks cool

Front crawl is the fastest, but butterfly is close behind it. It all depends on your body prefers. It takes certain muscles to do certain strokes. Like butterfliers have to have very passionate triceps and lats to be able to go quick, but front crawl requires passionate pecs and biceps. So it all depends on your bodies muscles.

Front Crawl > Butterfly > Backstroke > Breaststroke

Glide is the fastest, then free, then back, and then breast.
But breastroke and butterfly are the most hard to do correctly

If you want speed, free stylishness.
If you want to chill, Back stroke.
    Breast stroke is just fun.
    and butterfly is tough.
