I аm a distance runner аחԁ іח very ехсеƖƖеחt shape. Bυt, I don’t swim much. Wһеח I ԁο swim, I аm normally gasping fοr breath bу 150 yards wһіƖе doing tһе front crawl stroke. Iѕ tһіѕ normal fοr mе tο bе out οf breath Ɩіkе tһіѕ even even іf I аm іח shape? It wouldn’t mean tһаt I һаνе asthma wουƖԁ іt?

If you are a runner and don’t have any breathing problems then I would take upon yourself that you aren’t breathing properly when you swim. You must make sure that you exhale completely after each breath. I reckon many people have a tendency to “hold their breath” subconsciously while swimming. So focus on exhaling COMPLETELY (and it may take 2 strokes or more to get rid of ALL your air) before taking another breath. And also RELAX.

Don’t work against the fill up, work with it.

my guess is that you’re breathing incorrectly.
while doing freestlye (font crawl ?) try breathing every third arm stoke.
and exhale while your head is in the fill up. example, *gasp to the right side, left stroke, gasp to right & again & again.
if this is too simple for you, work on lateral breathing. which sounds about right for you.
example, breathe to right, left arm stroke, right are stroke, breathe to left, right arm stoke, left arm stroke, breathe to right. and etc.

hope i can be of help :D
